GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING - MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2019
E. B. CAPE CENTER, 4501 leeland st., houston, tx 77023
11 A.M. TO 1 P.M.
Many of you may not be aware of the Segal Consulting study prepared at the request of the City to address retiree OPEB (Other Post Employment Benefits) costs and specifically retiree health care/insurance costs borne by the City. Our thanks to one of our members for bringing our attention to the report. The study was first presented at the January 8, 2019 Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee meeting. To summarize, the study presents several options to the City to contain the City's health benefit costs going forward, many of which, if adapted, could affect retiree contributions toward the cost of their City provided health care/insurance.
In response, ARHME has invited Dr. Nicole Hare-Everline, HR Assistant Director for Benefits, and Melissa Dubowski, Finance Department Assistant Director, to speak to our membership at the June 24, 2019, General Membership Meeting. They will present an overview of the study and the potential impact to retiree health care benefits cost. To learn more about this study, make plans now to join us at the meeting. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.

ONGOING ARHME MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
WE WANT YOU!!!
At ARHME, when it comes to dealing with elected and appointed officials, our strength is in our membership numbers. We are beginning a new member enrollment drive and need your help to reach out and recruit new members. We currently have over 900 members, but this represents only about 10% of the service retirees, beneficiaries and surviving spouses, and disabled retirees who are eligible to join to become active members of ARHME. The new member drive includes a rewards program to recognize members who recruit 5 or more new members to ARHME. The attached flyer explains the program in detail. The program is being coordinated by board member Joyce Bethany, whose contact information is below. Thank you.
There is strength in numbers… At each bi-annual membership meeting, a member recruiting the most members for that period (a minimum of five new members) will select a recruitment gift from the items listed below.
4 tickets to the ARHME Spring Social
$100 gift Card
A Massage Envy full body massage
2 Personalized Yeti cups
Dinner for you and the new members you have recruited ($200 value and $30 for each additional recruit after 5)
2 free nights at the Downtown Hyatt Regency
Currently there are no membership dues!
We have your best interest when it comes to securing your Retirement Benefits. Join us in making ARHME Stronger.
Let us recruit as many new members (retired, surviving spouses and deferred City of Houston Municipal Employees) as we can.
Need additional information? Please contact Joyce J. Bethany at email@example.com or 713-729-1768.
WANT TO JOIN OTHER RETIREES AND SPOUSES FOR LUNCH?
All HMEPS retirees and spouses are welcome to join a group of fellow retirees and spouses who meet for lunch the first Saturday of every month. The group meets at the Luby's restaurant at 1414 Waugh Drive at 11 a.m. for fun and conversation. For more information, please contact Era Bell Inglis at 713-697-0317.
